Bird's Eye Weave
If there was one block I was most excited about in this year’s Summer Sampler Series quilt along, it would be this one. Bird’s Eye Weave is designed by Heather Black of Quiltachusetts, and is a lesson in using stripes and curves together.
As I was making the convex curve portions of the block, I was thinking about how cool would this look in an inset pieced curve quilt (ala our Oasis block)? Yep, piecing boot camp has already shifted my way of thinking!
If you like this week’s block, Heather has a book coming out in January that is all about stripes and curves…you can preorder it now - Quilt Modern Curves & Bold Stripes: 15 Dynamic Projects for All Skill Levels.
I love all our blocks together so far!
It’s not too late to join in the fun with us this summer. (It’s actually never too late!) . When you sign up, you will immediately receive all the block patterns to date. For the late comers, I’d recommend starting with the current week’s block and then making the past blocks in your spare time. That way you can immediately join in the fun with everyone on Instagram and in the private Facebook group.
Happy sewing everyone!
