Millcreek and Tilted Star ~ Summer Sampler Series
We have officially started the 2017 Summer Sampler Series! I'm so excited about this quilt. I love stars and medallion quilts, so I can't imagine a better way to spend the summer. We kicked off with the Millcreek Star pattern (Week 1) by Katie of Swim, Bike, Quilt and the Tilted Star pattern (Week 2) by Karen of Karen Lewis Textiles.
I am following the V&Co ombre fabric layout, so I made both my blocks in the 6" x 6" size. (The exact fabrics I'm using are listed at the end of this linked blog post.)
My Millcreek Star block mixes pink and orange ombre fabrics and my Tilted Star block mixes purple and pink ombre fabric. I've had a few questions related to how/why I'm using ombre fabric. I'm using ombre fabric to get the most "bang" for my fabric dollar. I am able to cut into different areas of my 1/2 yard and get different colors. This is awesome! So if I want three or four different shades of purple for a block, I just cut into three or four different sections of the fabric. Yes, my fabric looks like swiss cheese. But I don't mind.
It is not too late to join in the quilt along. When you purchase the pattern, you will immediately receive all the block patterns release up to that date.
I can't wait to see everyone's blocks!
