Celestial and Rosetta Star ~ Summer Sampler Series
We are now four weeks into the Summer Sampler Series 2017 quilt along and I am having so much fun with these star blocks. Last week we made the Celestial Star by Holly DeGroot of Bijou Lovely and this week we are making the Rosetta Star by Lee Heinrich of Freshly Pieced. Both of these blocks are foundation paper pieced, and both provided lots of challenges with matching up these angles. Skill building for sure!
I continued to use (and love) Vanessa's ombre fabric. The Celestial Star is a perfect example of how great this fabric is. All four shades of blue in this block came from one fat quarter of the ombre fabric.
For my little 6" Rosetta Star, I used colors from two different ombres. I spent a bit of time with my seam ripper to match up those points, but I'm happy I took the extra time as I'm pleased with the results.
As you can see, I'm on track with my mockup. It's so nice to have a plan. Last year I went scrappy and I think it stressed me out a little not to have an official fabric plan each week. :) Three 6" blocks and one 12" block complete!
It is not too late to join in the quilt along. When you purchase the pattern, you will immediately receive all the block patterns release up to that date.
Happy summer sewing everyone!
