Cookbook Sampler
I finished my Cookbook Sampler this week! I am really in love with this little quilt. The colors are so cheerful, but I must admit the fabric pull was a challenge for me this time. I had a vision in my mind but (despite my fabric stash) didn't have a lot of the exact shades of colors I was looking to use. I think I need to put a little more thought into my future fabric purchases.
This quilt uses nine blocks from The Quilt Block Cookbook by Amy Gibson. I tried to choose blocks that I felt worked well together, many with a sort of star look to them.
I had plans to complete this quilt last week, but I decided to wait and order fabric for the backing. I chose Writings on Walls from the Chalk & Paint collection by Sew Caroline. I love the light green text with the hand lettering feel. The binding is a favorite by Lizzy House, Chasing Butterflies in Backyard.
This quilt finished up about 50" x 50". I quilted it with straight lines, about 3/8" apart, using the dual feed on my BERNINA 770QE. I forgot how long straight line quilting takes! I do love how it looks. (My body is sore from a long day at the machine though.)
I am thinking about hanging this one up in my sewing room to get me through winter. What do you think?
