Welcome everyone to my stop on the

NYC MOD Quilt Guild Double Wedding Ring Quilt Challenge

! The NYC MOD Quilt Guild has partnered with EZ Quilting/Simplicity, Interweave and Juki to challenge you to show everyone your creative spin on this classic pattern.

The Double Wedding Ring Quilt is a pattern that is probably on many quilter's bucket lists. It wasn't really a block I ever thought I would make, but when Victoria Findlay Wolfe asked if I was interested in giving it a try and joining the blog tour, I couldn't resist saying yes.

I decided to dig into my Anna Maria Horner fabric stash and pair the prints with ivory and blacks for the background and cornerstones. I'm using EZ Quilts Double Wedding Ring Templates that can be found at Simplicity or your local quilt shop. I'm pairing the templates up with this tutorial.

Initially I was going to do a single ring mini quilt, but cutting these pieces out was sort of addicting, so now I'm not sure what size I will end up making. Time to practice my sewing of curves!

To play along, simply make a Double Wedding Ring quilt that falls into one of the following categories:

SMALL: ONE RING! Easy! size: under 20″ or smaller… This is a great way to play and learn your curves, and try your own version of making this fun design!

TRADITIONAL: 4 rings or larger… Make the traditional double wedding pattern by using the template and your choice of fabrics…not straying to far from the traditional style. Four rings or larger for this category… must have three layers and bound.

MODERN: 4 rings or larger… ANYTHING GOES! How can you interpret the double wedding ring, put a MODERN spin on a traditional design? Piece it, applique, fuse, whole cloth? Possibilities are ENDLESS!!! No rules other then, it must have three layers and bound.

Then visit the challenge page to upload your finished quilt image. The deadline is December 1, 2013. There are tons of sponsors and great prizes for the winning quilts.
