Hanna Hearts ~ A Finished Quilt
Hanna Hearts is officially in the "finished and photographed" camp. Many of you have followed along as this quilt came together. It started when I saw the below quilt on the Hanna Andersson website.
I made 99 4-1/2" hearts from Allison of Cluck Cluck Sewβs very timely Simple Heart Tutorial. Between the heart blocks, I cut my sashing 2-1/2" wide, resulting in a quilt measuring 56" x 68".
I backed this quilt in bright pink minky (or "mooky" as my husband called it! "All quilts should have mooky on the back." Ha!) I normally handstitch my binding to the back of the quilt, but I've found that in the past, the binding becomes unstitched on my minky backed quilts. (Due to lots of stretching I guess?) Any tips for me? In any case, I machine attached this binding to the back and although I'm not crazy about the look, I am confident it will stand up to abuse.
The quilting is a wavy stitch from my BERNINA 750 - you can read more about creating that stitch here. The binding is a pink and white dot, I believe from Sarah Jane Studios Children at Play line.
This quilt is a gift for someone special. I am pretty confident she will like it! The rest of this week I am working with some fabric that is no normally my "thing"...Spiderman. Maybe it will give you some ideas for those little Superhero fans in your life!
