Carkai by Carolyn Friedlander
I didn't attend last Quilt Market, so I spent some time on Instagram following those who were there. I fell hard for Carolyn Friedlander's new line, Carkai. I'm a huge fan of Carolyn's designs. I think I've worked fabrics from all of her lines into various projects ~ Architextures, Botanics, Doe, and now Carkai. They are colors and designs that I just know will work when used together or combined with other designers ~ truly great stash builders!
The one thing I've regretted most with the past collections is not buying enough of it. When buying a full line of fabric, I generally buy a fat quarter set. There are just so many pieces in single fabric lines these days! But with Carolyn's fabrics, I find that I run out of that fat quarter, and then suddenly the "perfect green" is out of print. So this time, I splurged on a half yard set. I'm so happy I did!
This is a fun pull from Carkai, with a representative from most of the colors. The full collection has a lot of prints that would make excellent additions to your low volume stash.
I can't decide if I should make a full quilt featuring this line, combine it with other lines by Carolyn, or just continue to work pieces into my projects as I go. Maybe all three!
