Add it Up

It's no secret that I am a big fan of Anna Maria Horner's fabric. I have made several project from her Little Folks line and I just do not tire of it. The voile is so soft and silky making it a perfectly lightweight fabric for summer.

This is my first plus quilt and I love how it turned out. I feel obligated to point out the two mistakes I made before someone points them out for me. Ha! The top right and lower left, where there are 2 fabrics of the same color, those should have been different colors. I didn't notice I did it until after the top was assembled and I didn't have it in me to redo them. Live and learn!

The back is my latest favorite - giant blocks of fabric. I just love the scrappy look. The binding is Kona Snow, it frames the bright colors nicely. I quilted this one free motion and it really doesn't effect the drape much, the fabric is just so lightweight and airy. It was a bit tricky quilting with voile totally covering the front and back. It's a little slippery. But I managed and am happy with the results.

My husband was such a trooper on this photo shoot. He had woken up at 3am for a day trip to Atlanta. I should also mention he has horrible allergies. So when he walked in the door and I asked him to go to the Arboretum to take pictures by flowers and trees, I really didn't expect him to say yes. But he did. I'm pretty lucky.

I used 5" squares for this quilt and the final quilt measurements are 58" x 62".

I also wanted to share this photo (after the Easter photo failures). It was even my daughter's idea to take their photo here in the flowers. Early Mother's Day gift?
