Castillo ~ Paper Chain BOM

Castillo is the May Paper Chain block of the month. I originally designed this block for the 2018 Summer Sampler Series, which was a travel inspired quilt along. It is based off of the Castillo de San Marcos fort in St. Augustine, Florida. My family lives down that way, and we had a great visit while the kids were earning their Junior Ranger badges.

This block uses some simple foundation paper piecing but ends up looking pretty complex. My big tip this month is to write the fabric colors on the templates, to prevent any mix ups!

The first five months look so good together! It’s never too late to quilt along with us - especially those of you who prefer a more relaxed pace to our annual Summer Sampler Series quilt alongs. One block a month is very doable! Check out everyone’s progress on Instagram and be inspired!
