Curious Crossing
Welcome to Week 3 of the Summer Sampler 2019 Piecing Bootcamp quilt along! This week’s block, Curious Crossing, introduces us to Improvisational Piecing using a technique called Improv Under the Influence© by Krista Hennebury.
I love improvisational piecing, but sometimes when I sit down to get started, I just freeze. Because I also love to have a clearly planned out path ahead of me. Krista’s technique is so fun and I’m already picturing all the ways I can use it in future projects.
I had a laugh a bit when I saw our schedule of blocks as well. We focused the first two weeks on precision, precision, precision…and then we jump right into Improv! But that precision is always an important skill - especially when lining up those white contrast strips. Krista provides a great tip on getting those perfectly in place.
So now I have 3 of the blocks up on the design wall, and my sewing room is looking pretty happy!
My weekly reminder…It’s not too late to join in the fun with us this summer. (It’s actually never too late!) . When you sign up, you will immediately receive all the block patterns to date. For the late comers, I’d recommend starting with the current week’s block and then making the past blocks in your spare time. That way you can immediately join in the fun with everyone on Instagram and in the private Facebook group.
Happy sewing everyone!
