Rope Twist
Week 5 of the Summer Sampler Piecing Bootcamp quilt along is an exciting week. Some of you are foundation paper piecing for the very first time! This week’s block is designed by FPP expert, Amy Friend of During Quiet Time. Amy is an expert foundation paper piecer and pattern designer.
FPP is probably one of a handful of quilting skills that can be very intimidating. I avoided it for quite some time before I decided I wanted to jump in and learn. I am SO happy I did - it opened up a world of new designs and options to me. Each Summer Sampler Series quilt along we have a lot of FPP converts. (It was even the skill during Week 5 in the original Summer Sampler quilt along back in 2011!)
In order to help everyone out there who is either new to FPP or needs a confidence boost/refresher, I’ve made a video tutorial of myself piecing this week’s block. I find it totally cringy to see/hear myself on video. :)
My design wall is looking quite pretty at this point in the quilt along!
It’s not too late to join in the fun with us this summer. (It’s actually never too late!) . When you sign up, you will immediately receive all the block patterns to date.
For the late comers, I’d recommend starting with the current week’s block and then making the past blocks in your spare time. That way you can immediately join in the fun with everyone on Instagram and in the private Facebook group.
Happy foundation paper piecing everyone!
